Despite the fact that in the vast majority of the villages of Aspropotamos the inhabitants spoke the Vlach language, Kamnai was Greek-speaking, as were the neighboring villages of Drosochori and Athamania. Although it was once a Vlach-speaking, it abandoned the Vlach language at the instigation of Father Kosmas Aetolus, who passed through the area of Aspropotamos around 1777, as part of efforts for national awakening and cultivation of feelings of homogeneity and unanimity during the Turkish occupation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
