The river

Quite close to the settlement is the river Kamnaitis that crosses the surrounding areas and is the main feeder of Acheloos (Aspropotamos, as it is known in the wider area). Its crystal clear waters run incessantly, forming small waterfalls and natural ponds along its route. The gurgling of the water creates a sense of serenity and tranquility, offering a magical atmosphere that captivates the visitor throughout the year.

Agios Nikolaos in the area of Asfaka

Just three kilometers away from the village of Agios Nikolaos, on the road leading to Tria Potamia and the other villages of Aspropotamos, one meets the Church of Agios Nikolaos Asfakas. Following a route through the fir and plane trees, one sees emerging through the rock, the small stone church, which is an ornament of the area and attracts many visitors.

The church was inaugurated in 2005, while its construction was funded by the residents of Agios Nikolaos (Kamnai). Similarly, the frescoes that adorn its interior are donations of villagers and visitors from the wider area of Aspropotamos.

Impressive is the icon painted on the rock that embraces the church and can be admired from the courtyard of the church. The icon presents the figure of Agios Nikolaos, while various are the myths that follow it. The most prevalent is related to the old location of the village near Asfaka. It is said, therefore, that when the village was moved to its current location, the icon kept returning to Asfaka and the inhabitants in turn permanently restored it to the "new" village. Until finally, the image "got nervous" and was imprinted on the rock, so that no one could move it.

Every year, on the first weekend after May 20, "Blots" is organized in Agios Nikolaos Asfakas. After the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, a meal with sheep meat and trahana is prepared and distributed by the villagers.

During the year there are other Liturgies in the church and a night Liturgy during the summer.

Kato Kylaraki

On the outskirts of the settlement extends the enchanting forest full of fir trees, which is not just a natural landscape, but an integral part of village life.
It offers tranquility, inspiration and a deep connection with nature, being a real paradise for those who seek to escape from everyday life and find peace and renewal in its embrace.
Along the paths that cross the forest,
visitors can discover hidden clearings, where sunlight penetrates the dense foliage, creating enchanting games of light and shadow.
These spots are ideal for rest, picnic and enjoyment of natural beauty.

Ano Kylaraki

On a wonderful hill at the outskirts of the settlement we find Ano Kylaraki.
From here you can see the green valley that stretches in front of it, with the river flowing calmly and disappearing into the horizon.
The mountains in the background, dressed in dense forests, but also the imposing peak "Tsouka", form an impressive scenery.
